Legendary Rock-Trac 4×4 system comes standard in the Rubicon trim. It provides improved vehicle control, higher torque and offers a great offroad performance. The top off-road series, Unlimited Rubicon, also includes the extremely powerful NV241-Off-Road transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio. The 4WD system defaults to a 2H rear wheel drive mode for street driving, offers automatic engagement of the front axle in 4H mode that is suitable for slippery surfaces like sand, mud, snow or ice. Thanks to a constant traction control and torque distribution the system automatically activates and deactivates the all wheel drive mode depending on current conditions. Fixed all wheel drive mode is provided by the selectable 4H Part-Time drive. This mode diverts the torque equally between both axles. The last 4L drive mode is tuned for difficult terrain conditions with 4,0:1 ratio that amplifies the torque in low rpms.

The Rubicon version also features both front and rear Dana 44 heavy duty axle and electronic front and rear locking differential Tru-Lok. Rubicon differentiates itself by adding cross joints and longer suspention range thanks to an electronic sway bar disconnect which allows for increased traction on even the hardest terrain conditions. New Rubicon model is also 90kg lighter than its predecessor.

Every Wrangler carries the “Trail Rated” badge to symbolize it’s dedication to meet the highest standard in 4×4 drive vehicles. This certificate is composed by a wide variety of difficult tests that challenge all terrain capabilities: traction, terrain adaptation, ground clearance, fordability and maneuverability. All Wrangler models therefore are capable to surmount hard conditions due the features like: approach angle (especially the 2 door Rubicon version), crossing angle of 30.8 degrees, rear appoach angle of 25,8 degrees and ground clearance of over 25 cm. Trail Rated models are capable of fordability of up to 76 cm!

Many other model inovations feature light and durable aluminum doors attached by Torx screws that can be easily stripped apart. All Wrangler trims now offer reinforced roof construction with built in handles. The Sport bar chassis construction is made of heavy duty steel painted in the color of the vehicle. The new model has a higher position of the rear spare wheel which is attached 300mm lower to improve visibility from the rear window.
