The time-tested Command-Trac system provides all-wheel drive on both the Wrangler and Gladiator. The system includes the NV241 reduction gearbox, which allows the following modes: 2H – Rear-wheel drive only and road gearing recommended for fair weather on regular roads or highway. 4H AUTO – Automatically assignable all-wheel drive that engages the front-wheel drive when slipping. By continuously monitoring the traction and torque distribution from the engine, the system takes care of engaging or disengaging the all-wheel drive fully automatically according to the current traction conditions. 4H Part Time – A mode suitable for lighter terrain where permanent all-wheel drive is no longer required. In this mode, torque is always split evenly between the front and rear wheels. 4L – A mode for tackling the most challenging terrain passages with a 2.72:1 reduction ratio that multiplies engine torque and delivers the vehicle’s highest off-road performance. Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential improves traction on slippery or uneven terrain by automatically transferring torque to the wheel with greater traction. Off-road capabilities are enhanced by 17″ aluminum wheels with BFGoodrich 33″ tires.
