The new 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X 4WD. This specific model was designed by engineers as a special off-road edition of the mid-size pickup. The powertrain is the well-known 2.7 TurboMax from the Canyon lineup, delivering 310HP with a maximum torque of 583Nm. This pickup is equipped with a factory-installed 3″ lift kit, providing over 27cm of ground clearance with a track width of 168cm on both the front and rear axles. It features Multimatic DSSV dampers with spool valves, which perfectly adapt to the terrain and smooth out rough surfaces. The wheels are 17″ in polished aluminum with a black gloss finish, fitted with Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT 285/70R17C off-road tires. In challenging terrain, the driver also has access to front and rear electronic differential locks, as well as a 360-degree camera system made up of 10 cameras. The transmission and distribution box are protected by skid plates, and the side sills also have similar protection by steel frame.
The driving modes offer a sophisticated setup for the entire vehicle, automatically presetting the optimal mode for the following systems: transmission, 4WD (Auto/2H/4H/4L), power steering, differential locks, throttle response, traction, stability control, and braking system. In addition to the standard modes, the AT4X model also offers a special Baja mode designed for high-speed off-road driving. The other four modes are consistent with those of the Canyon models: Normal, for everyday driving with balanced vehicle settings; Off-Road, suitable for unpaved gravel or grassy paths at low to moderate speeds, adjusting mainly the 4WD, traction, stability, transmission, and brakes; Terrain, designed for challenging terrain, rock crawling, and deep ruts, adjusting all systems, locking the differentials, and reducing throttle and shifting response for maximum torque; and Tow Haul, for towing, which specifically adjusts the stability and traction control systems, as well as the transmission and braking system characteristics.
For the new Denali model, the standard Canyon Pro Safety package includes a complete suite of driving assistants, such as adaptive cruise control with full stop capability, forward collision warning with emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, among others.
The vehicle’s interior features a distinctive color design for the seats in Obsidian Rush black, combined with Ceramic White accents and red stitching. The dashboard and door panels are crafted in the same style. The dashboard and door trims are leather-wrapped. The front seats are both heated and ventilated, with the driver’s seat offering 8-way adjustment including lumbar support and memory function, and the passenger seat offering 6-way adjustment. A heated, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel is standard. The driver also has access to a new 11-inch fully digital instrument cluster with very high resolution, offering several detailed modes including Google navigation or a comprehensive Off-road mode. This trim also includes a sizable and configurable 6.3″ head-up display and a wireless charging pad in the center console.
The new generation GMC Infotainment system features a large 11.3” touchscreen with extensive support for Google services and apps, which can be further expanded via Google Play. Full support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also included, along with the popular Amazon Alexa service. The vehicle’s sound system is provided by a premium Bose audio system with 7 speakers. The interior also features an electric sunroof, USB charging ports, auto-dimming mirrors, keyless entry, push-button start, and dual-zone automatic climate control. An interesting feature is a button that opens all four windows at once with a single press. The truck bed is protected by a durable spray-in liner, and the tailgate includes a practical storage compartment.
